cockroaches in my place of work?!?

I waitress in a restaurant that has cockroaches!!! I assumed that's what they were. But recently looked them up on-line to make sure. They are the American Cockroach. Every site I went to said that they can carry diseases. One stated that they leaves saliva and bowel movement on food and dishes (that is not visible) that will make humans sick. That is about as much information that I got. I live in Wyoming...and cockroaches aren't a normal occurrence here because the winters are so cold. But I'm sure that's what these are. Can someone tell me how we could get rid of them? And isn't this illegal to serve food from a restaurant that has cockroaches?! Not to mention, will/can I get sick eating and drinking there while I work? How easy would it be to 'bring' them home with me?! I do not want to live with cockroaches!! Ewe. Someone help me please!
Keep in mind...this is a small town. My options are kind of limited about who I can contact right away. Those places are available, but it will take a while. Also, I guess I forgot to mention that I've seen cans of chemical laying around that is for cockroaches. But I'm sure they'll have to do more then that. I will tell the manager, but am i going to be okay there? and the other customers. Tell me about cockroaches? I need this friggen job. Urgh.

If there are cockroaches in the restaurant where you work, you should bring it to the owner's attention immediately so that an exterminator can be brought in right away.

If the owner doesn't act immediately, the health department or the codes department will.

quit or tell the boss or get an exterminater but i would just quit cuz that $hit is nasty

It is easy to carry them home w/you, Never step on a roach because if it has eggs they can stick to your shoes and then your house. If you feel strongly about this you could call the health dept in your area. if you are close with the management advise them to call orkin or another exterminator.
