I'm 33wks pregnant and the owner wants to treat our house for termites. The termite guy said they use Premise 200SC and that it was completely safe. I'm of the belief that NO sort of manmade chemical can be 100% safe for pregnant women. I told the termite guy that I'd like to research it, and he tried to tell me not to, because there's a lot of unreliable info out there, and suggested I go talk to my doctor instead. I don't have a lot of confidence in GP's either, so I personally found that quite insulting and told him I've researched lots of stuff on the internet and know what I'm doing. He finally stopped trying to talk me out of it when I told him I had a science degree and knew a fair bit chemistry. It almost felt like I was being spoken down to by some dark ages mechanic! Anyway, that's not really what my question is about... My question is, have you had your place treated for termites while you were pregnant and/or know of someone who did? And was everything ok?

I've just bought an antique wooden box. After bringing it home I've noticed a couple of termites. I've never seen them on any other wood in my apt. so I'm pretty sure the old box is where they're hiding. Is there any way to fumigate the box only? Maybe put it in a heavy duty garbage bag spray the insecticide into it and seal it? Thanks in advance for your advice.

I have been looking for a home for several months now. Finally one of my offers was accepted, but the termite inspection found termites. The total of the repairs is $1,390 and the seller is required to pay for repairs. I've heard that it is only minor damage, but should I still buy the house. It's a nice place, but now i'm having doubts. The house is 13 years old. Should i walk away?
Also, The entire house is being fumigated. Has anybody had actual experience with this kind of thing?

my home.? I am selling my home to a buyer that is financing with FHA loan. The termite inspector found termite damage which he said wasn't anything to worry about structurally. He didn't find any active termites. He recommended having the house treated for termites although there are none active. Now my realtor says I need to pay for treatment out of the profits from selling the house. I do not feel I am obliged to pay for treatment when there aren't active termites. I live in Illinois. I've looked on the FHA/HUD websites and it appears the seller only needs to pay for treatment when the termites are active. Does anyone have real legal knowledge on whether or not the seller is required to pay to treat an inactive site?
