The stalks are handy supports for the runners on bean vines however they rot in two or less years. Also there is a 'tassel' or part similar to corn silks at the tops in early fall.

The lady was selling these um....I guess they're called rootings of bamboo plants?! Anyway I bought one, they were only a $1.00, but she said to keep them in water 50 degrees above. She said they would live. I want to know can I put this thing in water or will it shrivel up die? I love plants have a few, but I haven't always had the best of luck with the little buggers. Any information that anyone has on the bamboo plant would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
