Would bears(and other animals) avoid electric fencing?
Sorry if this sounds like a very weird question. I am scared to death about animals getting at our horses(whom we don't have yet, lol). I am worried mostly about black bears, cause one walked through our yard about a month ago. Do you think the electric fencing would work and do you think the horses would just kick its butt, lol, if the bear did get inside the area where the horses are? I know it sounds kinda funny but believe it or not, i have lost some sleep over worrying about this. We don't have our horses yet but i want them to be protected at all costs when we do get them. Have a happy Sunday!
Here in pa, it's mostly black bears and coyotes. However, mountain lion have been spotted about 50 miles from here.
Clyff, the first picture you showed me is what we have, minus the bottom section. That part is open, however that part and the top is what we're going to line with electric.
Oh that's just great, knowital! lol. So now your telling me to worry about wolves instead! Thanks. lol

We have lots of black bears here and for the most part they dont bother anything. And if u have an electric fence they shouldnt even try to bother them. I've never heard of somebodys horses getting attacked by a black bear, but my friend has a mare thats blind in one eye and 2 cyotes attacked her. she lived thankfully. But usually the electric fence discourages anything that might happen. and if they did try something they would probably get shocked by the fence and run off.
