help just moved to a 5 acre property in Curra, near Gympie, North of Brisbane.
Was looking forward to getting a vege garden going and generally doing things in the garden, but I CANNOT EVEN DIG THE GROUND it is so hard and my arms and hands or even legs just simply do not have the strength to dig up and turn the soil. It is clay with rocks through it. We have started four compost bins with lawn clippings four weeks ago, but they are as dry as a bone, no activity, any watering just drains right through. In fact somewhere I read that compost bins should not be kept underneath or near eucalyptus trees...CAN ANYONE SUGGEST HOW WE START TO OVERCOME THIS ?
grateful for any ideas... seems a shame if we cannot grow our own food! |
