Your points are good. I don't recall the original post, but have
fixed my own car A/C's for years.
On one car (a '93 Grand Am) I first thought a new compressor was in
order. But my gages found nothing wrong.
After poking around I found the only problem was that the plastic
cable connector on the mixer door had broken off.

If the TVX is not working properly, it can cause the evaporator to
freeze up thereby restricting the airflow. What I read in the OP
was there is "very little cool air coming out", I didn't read "very
little air flow." but your points are good and it's always best to
look for the simplest problems first. My post is about my personal
experience with a Honda AC that exhibited the same problem, "very
little cool air coming out." ^_^

Good point. I hadn't thought of the evaporator freezing
over and you're right it can then block air flow.
Simple test for that would be if the air flow starts
out OK when the car is first started up with the AC on
after sitting for a couple hours, but then air flow degrades
later when it has time to freeze up. And how long it
takes or when, etc depends on many factors, including
    how humid it is.

Regarding what he said about air flow, initially I thought
what you did, ie that by "little cold air", he might just mean
it wasn't blowing cold air. But later in the thread he clarified that
meant it wasn't blowing much air at all.

In Detroit iron, many times it's that evil air blend door mechanism. A
cracked vacuum line to the vacuum actuator. One thing I've found in many
vehicles is a thin plastic bag sucked into the heater core/evaporator
after being sucked up from the passenger side floor where us messy folks
toss our Subway Sandwich bags. ^_^

Low air flow is LIKELY due to a very small leak in the evap - oil
coats the evap, dirt sticks to it, and no air flow.
