By Law, can I install a security camera in common areas?

 By Law, can I install a security camera in common areas? I have my house for rent to four people in total. They do not know each other and they all share a common area such as the kitchen and living room. By the Canadian law am I allowed to install three security cameras. One facing the front door, once facing the back and one facing the kitchen and living room? I just want to monitor it from my house. But all those are common areas and not their private room. Each of them rented a room which shares a common area. I thought if I put a sign outside stating This premise is under surveillance it should be fine to install. I am not sure can somebody correct me on this?      |
