toro self propel

I'm new here..I got a toro recycler model 20005 the self propel wont engage i replaced the belt makes a funny whooshin sound,I checked the transmission everything seems alright..It engages when i move the wheels in reverse but spins freely forward.. So what's wrong with it??? I can't figure it out.. It was working fine up until last week... Thanks for any help..

If you still have this mower, did you check the gears for the front wheel drive? Also check the bearings and shaft, make sure everything is lubed up. The belt may be old and stretched out, not giving enough tension.
