Am going to replace vinyl floor w/ tile...?

 Am going to replace vinyl floor w/ tile...? Ive heard vinyl is next to impossible to completely remove (to a smooth finish) off of subfloor. So, my first question is whether there are any tricks or products out there to help remove glue and paper backing I'm sure to have left to deal with. Or option B, Should/can I lay an 1/8" layer of ply OVER the vinyl (assuming I screw it down well) and tile over that? Thanks for the help.      |
