 Can I go over painted wall paper to place granite tiles? they are 12x12 granite tiles? Can I place granite tiles over painted wallpaper or do I have to cut backer board over because I can't remove the painted wallpaper without destroying the wall.      |

| Wallpaper is not that hard to remove and the weight of tiles would surely pull it down. You should remove the drywall and put up the concrete board to support tiles for the walls. They are very heavy. We had to do this to put up a tile backsplash over the stove. |
