Hi
Teak is very hard and can withstand the weather very well. The oil puts back the natural oil that gets soaked up by the sun, every couple years or when it starts looking light colored apply a liberal coat. Good luck Les the painter

Be careful on supplies of Teak wood... while it is a very in demand and great wood, it is being exploited and overharvested at the expense of very poor people... look into it

Ash, Beech, Oak & Sweet Chestnut are all tough. Try Hickory or Boxwood for real hard, but nothing is harder than Ironwood.
