Tomatoes<--help! Hi, I am an avid gardener and love my fresh vegetables. We recently built a new house on our 10 acres and this is the first garden for me on this land. The land the garden currently sits on was active farm ground about 3 years ago. I have a 2' layer of black dirt on top of water bearing sand. My water table is high, about 4-5' where the garden is located. I planted around 25 tomato plants of various breeds, better boy, beefsteak, etc. The majority of my tomatoes only ripen part way, then begin rotting. My pepper plants are not doing so hot either. I have around 20 of them and I should have pepper's coming out of my ears, but we are lucky to get a few a week. I don't know if my ph is out of wack or what, but all my plants seem to be struggling except the radishes and the sun-flowers. I fertilze with 12-12-12 only once this year and use maricle grow a couple times. Any ides?
sorry about the picture I linked... I already made my tomato salad out of them before I realzied I should have taken pictures first...
