Dianthus deltoides
D. deltoides. A charming little flower, better known as the " Maiden Pink," and a native of the British Isles in dry and gravelly pastures. The
wilding is of straggling growth, with short blunt-pointed leaves on the barren stems and longer and narrower ones on those which bear the flowers.

I think none of the wild Pinks grow with greater vigour than this ; it seems happy everywhere, on dry wall or in rock garden, and may be grown easily in the mixed border, and the abundance of its bright pink prettily spotted flowers gives a touch of decided
colouring wherever a colony of it is established. D. d., variety glauca, is found on Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh, and has white flowers with a pink centre. The Maiden Pink is found over Europe except the northern part.
