EXTENDING FOUNDATIONS AND FOOTINGS
When masonry is used for extending walls to a lower level, the top tier of blocks immediately under the old footing may have to be emitted and the space filled with stiff concrete because of the unevenness of the bottom of the concrete footing. Ordinarily too much labor is required to chisel off the projections
